No, I don't have time to teach you kids in your parents' basements.

instead of sounding like a broken record and saying "if you have basic blah blah" how about you actually help, and let us 'dumbarses' in on how exactly step 5 works. C'mon.. take step by step screen shots for us half-wits..

"This tutorial . . . assumes you have a basic knowledge of Photoshop"
If you know the basics, it should make perfect sense. If you're struggling with it I suggest working through the help files.

well guess what Dr Quincy? clearly step five isnt all that clear if so many people are having trouble with it, instead of belittling the people you could try and bring some clarity to step five...

Great tutorial, although I found it looks better if you create the "highlight" layer above the "border" layer.
Con commented on 12/12/2007, 20:52:54
Step 5 does makes perfect sense DrQuincy..
Only for the part that modify is not clickable here..
Primus commented on 08/10/2007, 19:27:42
I can't make step 5. I don't understand.

Step 5 isnt confusing, but when you click Border and hold CTRL to select the quincy layer, MODIFY is not clickable
Jay commented on 16/08/2007, 14:29:23
If you know Photoshop at all step 5 should make perfect sense. It's not exactly at advanced level.
DrQuincy commented on 08/08/2007, 09:29:55
this tutorial makes no sense what so ever,
step 5 is so confusing and doesn't work for me

Sorry - it's badly phrased - it means add stroke to the existing layer.
DrQuincy commented on 25/11/2006, 10:09:14
really nice, i wanted this effect always and now i found it it wont work...
and i'm using Windows 2000 professional.
and @ step 3 i dont...really know what u mean with "create a new stroke layer"... is it just an empty layer or do you need to duplicate the layer and add the effect on the copy...Or what is it?
brains commented on 24/11/2006, 18:34:36
Now I really like this tutorial :D Nice one!

Hi great tutorial! I'm having difficulty understanding step 5 and could use some help. I'm using photoshop cs. After I create the border layer and ctrl click the quincy layer when I go up to "select" the option for modify is not highlited and unavailable for me to click. I've tried Select > All and the Modify option would become available to me, but only the Select > Modify > Border option is available to me, the Expand option is not highlighted.
Sorry for the dumb question. Help please =) This is a cool tutorial and I'd love to be able to duplicate your results. Thanks!
